Lloyd's
writing
The writing pages
are divided into five sections, which are listed as links above.
|
Lloyd's
editorial column is printed in The St. Albert Gazette, a twice-weekly newspaper based in the city of St. Albert, which is northeast of Edmonton, and has a population of just over 50,000. The paper's editorial columns can be read online here, and letters to the editor (often written in response to the editorial columns) can be read online here. Watch for letters by Abe Preisinger, a right-wing elitist fascist who has claimed, amoung other things, "if 14 bucks a month really puts a hardship on you, then may I suggest you really can’t afford to live in St. Albert." |

Lloyd's
Thesis is the thesis he was required to write at the and of
his Master of Arts degree in Comparative Literature at the University
of Alberta. It is entitled Mercury Models: Postmodernism, Simulacra,
and New Heavy Metal, and examines what the significance of
postmodern elements in the music, lyrics, and imagery of the bands
Korn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, and Rob Zombie.
Upon
completion of the thesis and the degree, Lloyd was invited to give
a presentation
on his thesis at a conference of the Bulgarian
branch of the International
Association for the Study of Popular Music in the capital
city of Sofya. (Somehow Lloyd's name got here
too.) After his lecture, Lloyd was commended heartily by Phillip Tagg, the founder of the IASPM, and enjoyed hanging out with Mr.
Tagg, drinking Zagorka, reciting Monty Python, and talking music,
culture, politics, and women. (Check out Lloyd's photo
in the program!)
Lloyd has also been known to occasionally write fiction and other creative works.
These works can be found in the "Stories" pages and the "Other" pages.
