Description
Babe hosts a radio show on CJSR
88.5 FM. The show is called "Get Some West". It focuses on independent
music from Edmonton, Alberta, the prairie provinces, Canada's North,
British Columbia, and Vancouver (in that order of priority).
The
format of the show is eclectic music. That means all styles: metal,
electronic, grunge, classical, jazz, country, folk, blues, rap,
rock, experimental, punk, whatever.
Get
Some West often features live on-air performances by western Canadian
musicians. Those episodes are particularly good fun, for him at
least.
The show broadcasts from 10pm to 11pm on Mondays. For time zone
information, see below.

Get played
on the air
If you're a musician residing in or hailing from Western Canada
and you would like to (1) be played on "Get Some West"
or (2) play live on-air in the studio on "Get Some West",
then send a recording, attention Babe Lloyd, to:
P.O. Box 3141
9111 - 143 Street
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
T5R 0P5
You
can also email mp3s to getsomewest |at| cjsr.com.
If you have already given your recording(s) to CJSR, perhaps just
contact the Music Director
to make sure that the record is still there and hasn't been misplaced
or {gasp!} stolen.
Time zone information
Edmonton's standard time zone is UTC/GMT
-7 hours, or Mountain Standard Time. From late March to late October,
the time zone is UTC - 6 hours, or Mountain Daylight Time. Did you
know that "summer time" is actually called "Daylight
Saving Time" and not "Daylight Savings
time"? For more information on time zones, visit timeanddate.com
or worldtimeserver.com

Record
IDs for Get Some West and CJSR
Babe sez:
Western Canadian artists of all kinds can record station IDs and send
them to me! (You can check out examples below, in the next section.)
You can email me mp3s of the IDs. You can record them individually
(as in it's just one person from the band on the ID) or as a whole
band (speaking in turn and/or in unison), or both. You can even send
me one whole ID from each band member AND some from the whole band.
The more the better. You can send me a bunch, each with a different
silly comment. Don't censor yourself! Send me a normal/serious one
and a bunch of wacky ones. Whatever! Seriously, the more you send,
the better.
Here is what I need:
-
IDs specific to my show that I can play during my show. So, "I'm
so-and-so from [band name]. We're a band in [city]. [something
witty if you want]. You're listening to Get Some West, hosted
by Babe Lloyd on CJSR FM 88.5. [something about how I play only
western Canadian music and I'm awesome]."
- IDs
others can play. For example, "Hey, we're [band name], an awesome
band in [city]. Do you like to listen to music made in your part
of the country? If you do, check out 'Get Some West', Mondays
from 10 to 11pm, here on CJSR. Babe Lloyd hosts it, and he does
a fine, fine job playing only music from Western Canada."
- IDs
specific to our Fundrive. For example, "Do you like listening
to local music? Independent music? How about news features that
go against the grain and present points view lacking in the mainstream?
If you do, you may want to donate to CJSR, because they're in
the midst of their fundrive! We're [band name], from [city]. We
donated our time by playing live on CJSR, and we're really cool
[or whatever the case may be]! Donation money is essential to
CJSR staying on the air. You know, paying rent, replacing their
solid gold office chairs every month, and so on. Do it today.
Even a donation of $5 will help!"
- Generic CJSR IDs. Such as "Hey, I'm so-and-so
from [band name] in [city]. You're listening to CJSR, home of
small furry things that write statistics curricula."
Seriously,
I have, like, a dozen from the band F&M. So go nuts! Are you gonna
let some other band out-do you? You can literally sit in a recording
booth or like half-an-hour or more improvising, then send me what
you end up with. Send mp3s to getsomewest@cjsr.com.

F&M's IDs for Get Some West and CJSR
Listen to some of F&M's recorded IDs below.
*Note that IDs do not need to start with "Hey", "Hi", or any
other particular word. I'm just being cheeky in F&M's general direction.
