Dirk:
The God of Swank
Dirk is the god of Swank. He is
an ancient deity who used to show up at parties, be they at houses or clubs or
gigs or whatever, where many people of much swankness had convened. He usually
shows up at parties made up of young people, as young people, more often than
older people, have the will and determination to be swank. As the word "swank"
is both noun and adjective, Dirk very much dislikes the word "swanky".
Dirk is especially likely to appear where people are "Dirking it up". To Dirk
it up is to invoke the name of Dirk in place of the lyrics of Dirk's favourite
songs. (Dirk likes classic club tunes like Beck's "Dirk's Haircut", Bjirk's "Army
of Dirk", and Depeche Dirk's "Personal Dirk".)
The most fervent disciples of Dirk are Lloyd and his primary partner in Dirk,
Beetch.
